'The BEST EVER LiFE @ FKE The BEST'
This time, our time, today, is an exciting time to be living. All around us, the technological advancement has progressed in leaps and bounds in promoting every conveniences and luxuries for human being, home, industries and environment. Without doubt, electrical and electronics engineers have been a major part of these exhilarating progresses. The modern technological era has recorded that the first activity for electrical engineering had started way back in 1790s with the invention of electric battery, paving the way for many more inventions such as the telegraph in 1830s, light bulbs in 1870s, radio in 1890s, electronic computers in 1930s, and many more, rapidly reaching but not stopping at what we can observe now! Today, we are experiencing the ubiquitous ICT system incorporating the ‘anytime-anywhere’ broadband connectivity. These innovations are freewheeling into a much more electrifying and unimaginable future. What we witness today are deemed as miracles by the people of the last decade; by the same token we are going to see many more miracles in our lifetime and beyond. This realisation calls upon the faculty members, as part of a larger engineering fraternity, to embrace the current technological developments and wisely prepare ourselves and our graduates for a more sustainable future.
It is commendable to see many faculty members, both academic and non-academic, actively participating and engaging themselves in various activities, from administrative tasks, curriculum review, course delivery, student development and activities, to research and academic conferences. At the same time the university and the faculty management is putting in place the corresponding infrastructure and systems to assist and advance the new wave of engineering education culture. We are facilitating these to promote greater and more significant experiences for our students and staff whilst they are with us. We are proud to offer professional electrical and electronics programmes at graduate (doctoral, postdoctoral, masters), undergraduate (bachelor), and diploma level as well as other related training. We are also actively pursuing collaborative activities with national and international academic and non-academic organisations in our quest to create a wider collaborative innovation network.
As the dean of the faculty, I promise, and I am ever willing, to support any activity that will promote a more professional and harmonious workplace culture, healthy curriculum development and enriching activities for all staff and students.
